Thesis: Harrison comments on features that the two plays have in common, particularly the similarity between the plot of Romeo and Juliet and the plot of the interlude of Pyramus and Thisbe, played by the mechanicals in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Harrison does not, however, show that one play sheds light on the other. He simply expresses amazement that "the same theme is directed first to pure comedy, then to equally pure tragedy" (213).
